My average client leads a busy life. I mean, don’t we all? We are always juggling, multitasking, and holding master “to do” lists. The thought of making and attending another appointment can sound a bit daunting. Maybe you’re a stay at home parent, work a demanding job, or can’t line up availability easily with your partner. Maybe you’re a student and accustomed to the ease of technology. In any case, online work makes it easier to choose you. Fill your own cup with a little less guilt attached because 50 minutes is actually 50 minutes… no commute means more time! And from the comfort of home, private work space, or anywhere you feel comfortable…why not give it a shot?
Online based work, otherwise known as telehealth, is a fairly recent innovation. Studies have recently shown that it is as effective or in some cases even more effective than face to face counseling. As noted, it tends to work really well with schedules and ease and can be wonderful to not have the stress of an office visit. It also allows me to work throughout the state of Massachusetts for therapy and across the US for coaching. It can seem a bit out of the box at first but I’ve had great success with clients through video. I can understand nerves attached; I’ve had them too. But it works…after all, I’ve built a practice out of it and now you get to reap the benefits!
So how does it work, exactly? After we set up a free phone consultation to see if we are a good fit, I will send you an email with information on how to create a client account. It’s simple and only requires your name, email, and phone to get set up. Once we pick a time for a session, I will send you the electronic paperwork to complete before our first session with an email confirmation. The email confirmation will contain a secure link created just for you. At the time of the session, you just click on it, enter your name when prompted, and voilà!
We will chat just like you would with FaceTime or Skype, but with the security and privacy of a HIPAA regulated platform. There’s no need to get ready, or even leave your bed or couch. All I ask is that you don’t do anything in session that you wouldn’t do in an office setting… you might be surprised as to how comfortable your environment makes you!
Once you become a client, you will continue to have access to a secure portal where you can schedule future sessions, send me secure messages, complete any additional paperwork, and view/pay invoices. The convenience of scheduling an appointment through a phone app cannot be understated. Thanks to modern technology, just about everyone in the U.S. has access to a smart phone or tablet capable of video chat. Ready to pick a date and time?
